Originally, na dem create de term to distinguish physical (dem term "organic") causes of mental impairment from psychiatric (dem term "functional") disorders, buh during de era wen na dem draw dis distinction, na dem no know enough about brain science (wey dey include neuroscience, cognitive science, neuropsychology, den mind-brain correlation) for dis cause-based classification to be more dan educated guesswork dem label plus misplaced certainty, wich be why na e be deemphasized insyd current medicine. While mental anaa behavioural abnormalities wey relate to de dysfunction fi be permanent,[3] treating de disease early fi prevent permanent damage in addition to fully restoring mental functions.
