Nokulunga Primrose Sonti (wey dem born 1 October 1961) na South African politician from North West wey serve as Member for de National Assembly of South Africa for de Economic Freedom Fighters from May 2014 reach May 2024. Sonti be former member for de African National Congress.

Early life den education

Nokulunga Primrose Sonti be person wey dem born on 1 October 1961 for Gqaqala settlement, Tsolo, for de old Cape Province.[1] She be de first born among six pikin dem. She start school for Nqamakwe Jongabantu Secondary School for Nqamakwe but she no complete am. Sonti no get any tertiary education. She first get work for shoe factory for Butterworth before she meet ein husband.[1] Dem move go Wonderkop for North West insyd 1995.[1]

Political career

Sonti be top person insyd African National Congress insyd Wonderkop till she stand as ward councillor candidate for Marikana ward for de 2011 local government election. Because of harassment, she comot from de ANC.[2]

Sonti too work as clothing contractor for one mine wey dey de outskirts of Mooinooi. For August 2012, de Marikana massacre happen wey 34 Lonmin miners die as police shoot dem. Dem first mistake her as one of de widows. She den join Thumeka Magwangqana form support group for de widows wey dem call "Sikhala Sonke" (We cry together). She later comot from ein job. For July 2013, Julius Malema wey dem expel as ANC youth league president form Economic Freedom Fighters. Malema be de person wey recruit Sonti join de party. For 2017, she show for de Strike A Rock documentary wey show wetin happen after de massacre and how de support group take start.[3]

Parliamentary career

Sonti get elected go National Assembly for May 2014. She start work as MP on 21 May 2014, den dem assign her make she serve for de Portfolio Committee on Public Works for June. During one parliamentary debate for March 2015, she call President Jacob Zuma "heartless" plus "thief", den she talk make he resign because of wetin happen for de Marikana massacre. Dem tell her make she withdraw de statement but she no gree.[4] By June 2015, she join de Portfolio Committee on Social Development.

After de 2019 general election, Sonti start ein second term for office on 22 May 2019. For June 2020, dem appoint her go de Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities.

Sonti no dey for any of de EFF ein candidate list for de 2024 general election, so she comot from parliament after de election.[5]
