Rosemary Nokuzola Capa (born 24 October 1952),[1] wey people dey call am Zoleka Capa, be South African politician wey dey serve now as Deputy Minister of Agriculture since June 2024. Before dis role, she serve as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development den Land Reform from August 2021 go June 2024. She be Deputy Minister of Small Business Development from May 2019 go August 2021. She be member of de African National Congress, den she be Member of de National Assembly since May 2014. From June 2014 go May 2019, she be chairperson of de Portfolio Committee on Social Development.
Early life den career
[edit | edit source]Dem born Capa insyd Flagstaff insyd Cape Province (wey now be part of Eastern Cape) during apartheid time. She train as nurse plus midwife for Holy Cross Hospital insyd Flagstaff. After apartheid end, she serve two terms as Executive Mayor for OR Tambo District Municipality. For de end part of 2010, she join Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature den dem appoint am go de Executive Council of Eastern Cape as Member of de Executive Council (MEC) for Rural Development plus Agrarian Reform.[2][3]

[edit | edit source]Capa win election go de National Assembly of South Africa after de general election wey happen on 8 May 2014. She take ein oath enter office on 21 May 2014. De ANC announce say Capa be demma candidate for chairperson role of de Portfolio Committee on Social Development. Dem elect am chairperson on 25 June 2014.[4]
Capa hold de chairperson position for de portfolio committee till de term end on 7 May 2019.[5]
Deputy Minister
[edit | edit source]After de general election wey happen on 8 May 2019, Capa come back go Parliament on 22 May 2019. On 29 May 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa appoint am as Deputy Minister of Small Business Development. Capa take ein oath de next day.[6]
On 5 August 2021, she be appointed as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development den Land Reform.[7]
