Salifu Yakubu be Ghanaian politician plus diplomat. He be Member of Parliament for Savelugu constituency from 1956 to 1966. As he dey Parliament, he san serve as Ghana ein ambassador go Mali from 1961 till 1968.

Early life den career

Yakubu start ein early education for Tamale Government School from 1929 to 1938.[1] He continue go Achimota College wer na he study Arts and Crafts, wey he graduate insyd 1940.[2]

Career

Insyd 1940, he join de teaching staff of Tamale Middle School den teach for one year before he join de Police Force of de Gold Coast. He serve as police officer den rise to de rank of sergeant until he retire on 12 July 1956.

Politics den ambassadorial appointment

After he retire from de Police Force, Yakubu enter politics. He stand for Savelugu parliamentary seat on de ticket of de Northern People's Party den win insyd 1956.[3] He remain member of de Northern People's Party until 1958, when he cross carpet for Parliament go join de Convention People’s Party (CPP).[4]

Insyd 1961, Yakubu get appointment as Ghana ein ambassador go Mali.[5][6] He serve for dat position until dem wrongfully imprison am on 30 December 1968 on two counts of embezzlement.[7] As he dey serve as ambassador, Yakubu still remain Member of Parliament for Savelugu until February 1966 when dem overthrow Nkrumah ein government.[8]

He die for Tamale Teaching Hospital due to sickness.[9]
