De Sayed Jamaluddin Mosque (Bengali: সৈয়দ জামালুদ্দিনের মসজিদ; Arabic: مسجد سيد جمال الدين) be a former mosque den archaeological site, now for partial ruins insyd, dey locate insyd de ancient city of Saptagram insyd Hooghly district, West Bengal. Na dem build de mosque during de reign of de Bengali sultan Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah.[1] De structure be a Monument of National Importance.[2]

History

A stone foundation plaque attach to de mosque dey state say na dem construct am by Sayed Jamaluddin, son of Sayed Fakhruddin of Amol during de reign of Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah. De date dem mention insyd de inscription be Ramadan AH 936 (1529/1530 CE), insyd de month of May. Within de mosque complex be three tombs, wich dey belong to Sayed Fakhruddin, ein wifey, den ein eunuch.[3]

Architecture

Ebe a unique brick mosque dem build wey dem decorate am plus terracotta ornamentation. E dey represent de terracotta elements of de Indo-Islamic architecture of Bengal.[4] Der be three tombs insyd de mosque complex.

Now nu de ruined mosque dey under de maintenance of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).[1][5][6]
