Samuel Antwi Kwaku Bonsu, wey people sana dey call Solomon Antwi Kwaku Bonsu, be Ghanaian politician for de first republic. He serve as Minister of Co-operatives, den later become Minister of Pensions and National Insurance. He be Member of Parliament for Sekyere West constituency from 1959 to 1965, den from 1965 to 1966 he represent Adotobri constituency for parliament.

Early life den education

Bonsu born on 21 November 1921 for Asante Mampong insyd Ashanti Region.[1] After he complete ein Standard Seven, he enter Presbyterian College of Education (wey dem dey call Presbyterian Training College by den), where he get ein Teachers' Certificate 'A'.[1] Later, he continue ein studies for Theological Seminary for Akropong, wey he graduate for 1941.[1] Insyd 1954, he study make he get ein GCE Advanced Level certificate before he proceed go United Kingdom to study law for Middle Temple, London.[2] He get call to de bar as barrister-at-law for 1957.[2]

Life den politics

Bonsu start ein career as teacher for Kumasi Presbyterian Middle School before he join de Kumasi branch of U.T.C. as Departmental Store Manager.[2]

Insyd 1959, Bonsu become private legal practitioner, den on 12 June dat same year, he get sworn into office as Member of Parliament for Sekyere West constituency. Dis happen because de seat come vacant under one law wey dey parliament by dat time wey say any MP wey no fit show up for parliament for ten (10) straight days go lose ein seat.[3]

De former person wey hold de seat, R. R. Amponsah, lose ein seat because of dis law, as he dey under detention den trial for allegedly planning coup with M. K. Apaloo to overthrow Nkrumah. Bonsu get appoint as deputy minister for Justice for 1960,[4][5] den one year later, he become Chief of State Protocol during de Queen ein visit to Ghana. He continue serve as deputy minister for Justice from 1960 till January 1965, wey President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah appoint am as Minister of Co-operatives.[6] Insyd June dat same year, dem move am go head de Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance.[7] One month later, he become Member of Parliament for Adotobri constituency.[8] He serve for all these roles under de Nkrumah government until Nkrumah get overthrow for February 1966.
