Tebogo Josephine Mokwele be South African politician wey serve for National Assembly of South Africa from May to August 2019 under de Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. Before she go National Assembly, Mokwele be permanent delegate go de National Council of Provinces (NCOP) from North West from 2014 to 2019.

Political career

Mokwele join de Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and for 2013, dem name am join de party ein Central Command Team, wey be de highest decision-making structure for de party.[2]

Parliamentary career

Mokwele stand for de National Assembly insyd de 2014 national plus provincial elections, den she win seat for de lower house of parliament as EFF gain 25 seats.[3] But de North West Provincial Legislature rather elect am as EFF ein permanent delegate go de National Council of Provinces (NCOP), wey be de upper house of parliament. After dat, dem appoint am as Whip for de EFF caucus insyd de NCOP.[4]

Insyd August 2015, security forcefully carry Mokwele commot from de NCOP chamber after she no gree leave when de sergeant-at-arms instruct am. She be de first MP wey dem remove under de new parliamentary rules.[5]

Mokwele continue to serve for de NCOP till de May 2019 general elections, wey she then win seat for de National Assembly.[6] Dem appoint am go de Portfolio Committee on Labour and Employment plus de Joint Standing Committee on de Financial Management of Parliament.[7]

Resignation

Insyd 18 August 2019, de EFF talk say Mokwele collect R40,000 from ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa ein CR17 presidential campaign account. But later e come clear say no be only R40,000, she actually collect R80,000 from Ramaphosa. She take de money two times: one for 2017 wey she dey part of parliamentary project, den de other one for 2019 wey Ramaphosa send money give am because of ein personal bereavement. De next day, Mokwele plus anoda EFF MP, Nkagisang Mokgosi, wey too collect money from Ramaphosa, both resign from Parliament and from de EFF Central Command Team. For ein resignation letter, Mokwele talk say she no tell de EFF leadership about de money, but later for interview wey she get plus journalist Stephen Grootes, she talk say she tell dem — dis one come contradict wetin she write for de resignation letter.[8][9]
