How to use am
[edit source]The Template:Tc or Template:Tc template dey be used anytime single quotation mark (') go come before double quotation mark ("), mostly inside nested quotations (example: Template:Tq), or when a double-quoted passage end with apostrophe (example: Template:Tq).
The purpose be to put small space between the single and double quotation marks so e go easy to read, without actually adding a space character.
E dey do dis with CSS, because adding any extra space character (for example, or  ) go spoil the semantic integrity of web content inside article or any other page where e dey appear.
- Example (with highlighting added to make am clear)
- Using dis template:
Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solutionTemplate:Stronggood, in the March 3 debate.- Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solution'", in the March 3 debate.
- For comparison, dis be the less preferred version without any spacing:
Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solutionTemplate:Strongbad, in the March 3 debate.- Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solution'", in the March 3 debate.
- Compare am also with the version wey use semantically incorrect non-breaking space character:
Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solutionTemplate:Strongbad, in the March 3 debate.- Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solution' ", in the March 3 debate.
- And finally, compare this version wey look good visually but still semantically wrong, because e use "thin space" character:
Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solutionTemplate:Strongbad, in the March 3 debate.- Smith was reported to have said, "I think the public will not agree with your 'innovative solution' ", in the March 3 debate.
When rendered, the non-breaking-space and thin-space versions fit look similar or the same as the template version, but dem mix content and presentation in a wrong way.
