Thomas Dominic Baffoe
Thomas Dominic Baffoe be Ghanaian journalist[1] den politician. He be Editor-in-Chief of Ghanaian Times from 1964 go 1965. He sana serve as president of de Ghana Journalists Association for 1964. From 1965 go 1966, he be member of parliament for Gomoa-Assin constituency.
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]Dem born Baffoe on 1 November 1930 for Mankesim insyd Central Region of Ghana (wey be Gold Coast by dat time).[2] He get ein early education for Tarkwa Catholic School from 1939 go 1941, den later go Obuasi Methodist den Catholic School wey he get School Leaving Certificate.[2] After dat, Baffoe study for house den enter journalism.[3]
Career den politics
[edit | edit source]Baffoe join Ashanti Times for Obuasi just after he lef school for 1947 as trainee journalist. For 1949, he join Gold Coast Leader for Sekondi, newspaper wey Jonathan Kwesi Lamptey own. For 1950, he move go Takoradi Press wey Saki Scheck own, but one year later he lef go Kumasi make he become sub-editor for Ashanti Sentinel. Towards de end of 1951, he get job as senior reporter for Daily Graphic. For 1952, Baffoe return go Ashanti Times as senior sub-editor. He stay with de firm till 1955 wey dem appoint am as Editor of India Newspaper.[4]
Baffoe serve as public officer from 1958 go 1960, den become editor of Ghanaian Worker, de newspaper for de Trades Union Congress. For April 1960, dem appoint am as Editor of Ghanaian Times, but he get dismissed for two weeks inside 1961. Dat same year, he get appointment as member of de Central Committee of de Convention People's Party (CPP), wey make am de youngest member of de committee by dat time. Insyd May 1964, he become Editor-in-Chief of Ghanaian Times till 1965. Dat same year, he serve as president of de Ghana Journalists Association. For 1965, he revert go de position of editor for Ghanaian Times. He remain as Editor-in-Chief till 24 February 1966 wey Nkrumah ein government get overthrown. Insyd June 1965, he sana serve as member of parliament for Gomoa-Asin constituency.[5][6] He remain for parliament till de 1966 overthrow. Later for ein life, he serve as member of de board of directors for Ghanaian Times.[7]

[edit | edit source]Baffoe marry Miss Josephine Ashorkor Vejisu, wey now be Mrs. Josephine Baffoe, on 18 June 1960. Mrs. Josephine Baffoe get two children before de marriage.[8] Baffoe die on Wednesday, 14 February 2005.[7]
