Na dem establish de list insyd 2008 wen na de 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage take effect.

As of 2010, de programme dey compile three lists. De longer Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity dey comprise cultural "practices den expressions [wey] help demonstrate de diversity of dis heritage den dey raise awareness about ein importance." De shorter List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding be composed of those cultural elements wey concerned communities den countries consider to require urgent measures to keep dem alive.[5][6] De third list be de Register of Good Safeguarding Practices.

Insyd 2013, na four elements be inscribed on de List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, wich dey help States Parties mobilize international cooperation den assistance to ensure de transmission of dis heritage plus de participation of de concerned communities. De list no dey attribute anaa recognize any standard of excellence anaa exclusivity. All lists dem combine total 676 elements, wey dey correspond to 140 countries.[7]
