Vera Valentina Benros de Melo Duarte Lobo de Pina ( born October 2, 1952) AKA Vera Duarte Martins,[1][2] be poet wey komot Cape Verde, she sana be human activist, government minister den politician.
Biography
[edit | edit source]Dem born Duarte for Mindelo wey dey de Island of Sao. She spend ein first years for school insyd Cape Verde. She sana go abroad den study for University of Lisbon insyde Portugal.
She go back Praia for Cape Verde, after she reach, she turn counsellor judge for Supreme Court. Later she cam be advisor give de presido.
Dem give Duarte de first North-South Prize for 1995, ein den musician, Peter Gabriel.[3] De North-South Prize, every year dem dey give am to people wey dey work for human rights, de North-South Centre of de Council of Europe dey give am. She san be one of de people wey start de Lisbon Forum.[3]
Duarte be de Cape Verde person per wey win de U Tam'si Prize for African Poetry for 2001.[4]
Duarte join hands start de National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship of Cape Verde for 2003,[3] na she be de chair person. Recently, na Duarte be de Cape Verde Minister of Education.[3]
