Vera Songwe be economist den banking executive wey come from Cameroon wey she work for World Bank from 1998 go 2015, den from 2015 go 2017 she serve as regional director for Western den Central Africa ein regional director for de International Finance Corporation. Songwe dey hold a PhD insyd Mathematical Economics from de Center for Operations Research den Econometrics den a Master of Arts insyd Law den Economics den a Diplôme d’études approfondies insyd Economic Science den Politics from de Université Catholique de Louvain insyd Belgium. She get a Bachelor of Arts degree insyd Economics den Political Science from de University of Michigan.[3]

Career

Songwe work for de Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, wey she simultaneously get a visiting professor ein appointment at de University of Southern California.

Insyd 1998, Songwe join de World Bank, wer she work insyd de Poverty Reduction and Economic Management (PREM) unit, wey dey cover Morocco den Tunisia.[4][5] Over de subsequent years, she fill several roles insyd de PREM unit for East Asia den de Pacific region.[5] Insyd 2010, Songwe be part of de World Bank Group team wey raise a historic US$49.3 billion dollars insyd concessional financing for de low income countries of de world as part of de International Development Association (IDA) 16th replenishment.[6]

From 2011 to 2015, Songwe be Regional Director Africa wey dey cover West den Central Africa for de International Finance Corporation (IFC), den Country Director for Senegal, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, den Mauritania.[7] Ein main areas of interest be fiscal policy, innovative financing mechanisms for development, agriculture, energy den economic governance.[6]
