Victoria Nyame (wey die 13 September 1980) be Ghanaian politician wey serve for Parliament of Ghana from 1965 go 1966. As member of de Convention People's Party (CPP), Nyame represent de town of Kintampo.
Biography
[edit | edit source]Victoria Nyame be Ghanaian politician wey dem elect make she represent Kintampo constituency for Parliament of Ghana afta de 1965 Ghanaian parliamentary election. She be one of de 18 women wey win seat dat year.[1][2] Dem elect am without opposition, sake of say de Convention People's Party (CPP) be de only legal party by den, den na de central committee dey choose de candidates.[3] Insyd ein first speech for parliament, Nyame talk about education. She praise President Kwame Nkrumah ein plan to make all education for Ghana free, den she stress say e important make women get access to higher education. She propose say dem for establish educational institutions for women for Brong-Ahafo region. She show strong support for Nkrumah den celebrate de founding of de Organisation of African Unity. For anoda speech in 1965, she lash out Ian Smith, de prime minister of Rhodesia, say he dey represent de "evils of colonialism".[4]
Afta ein time for parliament, Nyame no stop ein political work. For 1968, she serve on one commission wey dey investigate de State Housing Corporation. By 1980, dem appoint am as inspector under de Ministry of Education.[5][6] Later dat same year, she become Ghana ein envoy to India. But on 11 September 1980, during one celebration lunch, she fall sick. Dem rush am go 37 Military Hospital for Accra, where she die two days later.[7]
