Virgill Gericke be South African politician wey dey serve as Permanent Delegate go National Council of Provinces representing Western Cape under Economic Freedom Fighters. Before he enter de NCOP, he be Member of Parliament for de National Assembly. Gericke be de founding president of Plaaslike Besorgde Inwoners, one small political party for Garden Route District Municipality, wey he lead from 2011 till 2023.

Political career

Gericke start de Plaaslike Besorgde Inwoners (English: Local Concerned Residents) insyd 2011.[1] De party win one seat for de council of George Local Municipality during de 2011 municipal elections, den Gericke get elect make he take up de party ein only council seat.[2] He win re-election go council insyd 2016. Afta de election, he get elect go serve for de council of Garden Route District Municipality.[3] Gericke win ein third term for George municipal council insyd 2021. Afta dat, he win re-election go de Garden Route district council. He dey put forward as mayoral candidate, but he lose to de incumbent, Memory Booysen of de Democratic Alliance, as he get only 15 votes compared to Booysen ein 18 votes out of 33.[4]

On 18 October 2023, Gericke resign from George municipal council den de Garden Route district council.[5] He comot from PBI den join Economic Freedom Fighters de next day.[6] He take ein oath as member of de National Assembly on 20 October.[7] Gericke get appoint go de National Council of Provinces afta de 2024 general election.[8]
