Vuyani Pambo (wey dem born am 12 August 1989) be South African politician plus former student activist. Since May 2019, he dey represent de Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) for de National Assembly, den he still dey serve as head of de EFF presidency. He rise enter political prominence as leader for de Fees Must Fall movement for University of de Witwatersrand, where he be head of EFF Student Command. He be member of de EFF Central Command since December 2019, den between February 2020 plus February 2022, he serve as de party ein national spokesperson.
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]Dem born Pambo insyd 1989 insyd Diepkloof, Soweto, den ein single mommie raise am.[1][2] He go St David's Marist through scholarship.[3] Insyd University of the Witwatersrand, he complete Bachelor's degree insyd African literature plus international relations before he start Bachelor of Laws.
EFF Student Command
[edit | edit source]Pambo enter politics through de Black Consciousness Movement, den as he dey study law for Wits, he get interest insyd de Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) because dem dey support land redistribution. When dem launch de EFF Students Command (EFFSC) insyd 2013, he become de first chairperson for de Wits branch. De next year, he plus 11 other EFF members occupy de office of Adam Habib, wey be Wits vice-chancellor, as protest to demand make EFFSC register as official student society.[4][5]
As Wits EFFSC chairperson, Pambo join hand insyd de Fees Must Fall protest wey start for Wits insyd October 2015. He still play strong role when dem bring back de movement again for 2016. Mail & Guardian describe Pambo plus Mcebo Dlamini as "populist leaders" wey dey depend on "well-worn revolutionary sloganeering and confrontational antics," den political commentator Justice Malala later talk say Pambo dey push "de politics of spectacle and destruction" for de student movement. Pambo ein role for de protest dey captured for two documentary films: Aryan Kaganof ein Decolonising Wits plus Rehad Desai ein Everything Must Fall.[6][7]
National Assembly

Dem put am 31st for de EFF ein national party list – just one step behind Naledi Chirwa, wey too be Fees Must Fall activist. Pambo, wey dey serve as de party ein elections coordinator dat time, win seat for National Assembly for May 2019 general election. Again, for December 2019, dem elect am for five-year term onto de party ein 40-member Central Command Team.[8]
After de party ein next plenum wey happen for Centurion inside February 2020, dem appoint Pambo as de national spokesperson of de EFF, wey he take over from Mbuyiseni Ndlozi wey hold dat position for long time. He serve dat role together plus Delisile Ngwenya. For February 2022, dem replace Pambo and Ngwenya plus Leigh-Ann Mathys den Sinawo Tambo; Pambo then become de head of de office of de EFF presidency under EFF leader Julius Malema.[9]
Insyd November 2021, Malema talk say Pambo go face internal disciplinary action sake of say he no declare ein financial interests to Parliament before de deadline.[10]
Paulsen been ranked 15th for EFF ein national list plus 7th for EFF ein Gauteng regional-to-national list for de 2024 general election.[11][12] He win ein seat back for parliament through de EFF national list.[13]
