Witr (Arabic: وتر) be an Islamic prayer (salat) wey dem dey perform at night after Isha (night-time prayer) anaa before fajr (dawn prayer). Witr get an odd number of raka'at dem pray in pairs, plus de final raka'ah dem pray separately.

According to Abdullah ibn Umar, Muhammad: "The night prayer is offered as two raka'at followed by two raka'at and so on and if anyone is afraid of the approaching dawn (fajr prayer), he should pray one raka'ah and this will be a witr for all the raka'at which he has prayed before."[1]

Insyd a hadith dem transmit by Abu Darda, he dey state say Muhammad tell am to do three things: to fast three days every month, to offer de witr salat before sleep, den to offer two raka'at sunnah for fajr.[2]

Der be a hadith wey dey say dat de best time for de witr salat be at night, den dat those wey dey fear dat dem no go fi be able to awake, anaa fi die insyd dema sleep, for perform de prayer before sleeping.[3]

Ali ibn Abi Talib say, "The witr prayer is not required like your obligatory prayers but the Prophet would perform the witr prayer and say, 'O you people of the Quran, perform the witr prayer, for Allah is One and He loves the witr.'"(dis be rated as daif (Weak)) [4]
