Yasir ibn Rashid al-Dawsari (Arabic: ياسر بن راشد الدوسري, romanized: Yāsir ibn Rāshid al-Dawsarī; born 6 August 1980) be a Saudi Islamic scholar wey serve as one of de imams of Masjid al-Haram since 2019.[1][2] A khatib den qāriʾ, he lead Taraweeh denTahajjud prayers at Masjid al-Haram from 2015[3][4] wey he sanso serve as de imam of several mosques insyd Riyadh since 1995.[5]

Na dem born Al-Dawsari insyd de Saudi governorate of al-Kharj, southeast of de capital, Riyadh. Na Al-Dawsari be a student of a group of 'ulama den sheikhs, wey dey include Abd al-Aziz Al al-Shaykh, Salih al-Fawzan, den Ibn Jibrin. Imam of Masjid Al-Haram

On 29 Sha'ban 1436 H (15 June 2015), King Salman bin Abdulaziz issue an order for Al-Dawsari make he cam be one of de Imams of Taraweeh den Tahajjud at Masjid Al-Haram during Ramadan.[7] He carry out dat order for five years.[3][8][9] On 13 Safar 1441 H (12 October 2019), King Salman appoint Sheikh Yasser as a permanent imam at Masjid Al-Haram.[1][2] Dem believe he be de youngest imam dem appoint at de Grand Mosque insyd Makkah,[10] he lead ein first prayer insyd Masjid Al-Haram during de Maghrib den Isha prayers on Saturday, 13 October 2019.[11][12]

Apart from he be an imam, Al-Dawsari sanso be an adviser to General Presidency of Haramain since 2020. Na dem appoint am for dat position after Abdul-Rahman Al-Sudais, Head of de General Presidency of Haramain, decide to reorganize de ranks of de advisory body of dat government agency.[13][14]

Khatib of Masjid Al-Haram

About three years after dem appoint Al-Dawsari as an imam of Masjid Al-Haram, Sheikh Al-Sudais announce say Al-Dawsari sanso be appointed as a khatib of Masjid Al-Haram plus King Salman ein approval insyd December 2022.[15][16]

End of First Contract

After de completion of ein four-year contract as imam, na dem excuse Sheikh Yasser from de post insyd October 2023.[17] Chaw call for ein return, plus an online survey wey dey show say 94% of respondents wish to see am reinstated as imam.[18]

Second contract

Nearly six months after de contract ein expiration, on Shaʻban 26, 1445 (7 March 2023), Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais announce de re-appointment of Sheikh Yasir al-Dawsari as an imam of Masjid al-Haram, wey dey start from Ramadan 1445 (2024)[19]
