Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) be state government owned den operated Nigerian university.[1] De university dey Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria.

Adekunle Ajasin University first establish as Obafemi Awolowo University for March 1982 by de government of de old Ondo State, wey late Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin head am.[2] De immediately succeeding military government of Navy Commodore Michael Bamidele Otiko change de name go Ondo State University for 1985. De relocation to Akungba Akoko for de new Ondo State become necessary for 1999, after dem create new state from de old Ondo three years earlier for October 1996. De bill wey support de relocation, de then Governor of de State, Chief Adebayo Adefarati sign am into law for November 1999, and dat prompt de movement of some workers from de old site for Ado-Ekiti go Akungba Akoko on 1 December 1999. De bill for another name change, dis time to Adekunle Ajasin University, to immortalise de late Governor Ajasin, dem sign am into law by Governor Adefarati for 2004 after de former Governor die. De amended and existing statute of de university dem sign am into law for November 2007 by yet another governor, former Governor Olusegun Agagu. De institution's library dey support teaching, learning, den research among de students den staff of de institution. De library get automated system[5] plus availability of e-resources.[6]

Students' Union[edit | edit source]

De AAUA Students' Union (AAUASU) get large population of over 20,000 students.

On May 23, 2023, de 7th e-voting Presido of de union, Comrade Adekanye Mayomi, known on Campus as "INEC" wey na dem inaugurate am for de 2022–2023 session after de election on May 4, 2023.[7]

He be de first AAUA Students' Union President wey be indigene of Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State den from de Department of Philosophy, AAUA.

Sport[edit | edit source]

AAUA's Sports Complex dey provide indoor den outdoor sports like taekwondo, table tennis, badminton, soccer, basketball, cricket, judo, track den field events wey dey encourage staff den students make dem keep fit physically.[8] De centre get ultra-modern facilities wich dey include large gymnasium, standard football pitch, tennis court, den chaw oda sports. AAUA students dey participate for competitive sports like de Nigerian University Games Association den West African University's Games.[9]

AAUA also participate for de Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL) 2021.[10] AAUA play for de final of de HiFL against UNIMAID where dem win second-place position.[11]
