John Kilaka (born 4 November 1966 insyd Sumbawanga, southwest Tanzania) be a Tanzanian writer den illustrator, wey dem best know am as a creator of children's picture books.[1]
Kilaka be an artist, storyteller den enthusiast wen e cam to dem dey collect old traditions den stories. Wen na Kilaka be young he always paint wey he soon realize say he need make he make ein way to Dar es Salaam for an education. Der wey he get familiar plus Tingatinga painting wey today he be a front figure. He debut as a book illustrator plus Fresh Fish. Na ebe big international success as well as True Friends wich receive de New Horizon award for de 2004 Bologna Children's Book Fair.
Insyd 2004, na dem award Kilaka de Peter Pan Silver Star (Peter Pans silverstjärna) for ein work plus Fresh Fish.[2] Ein latest book be The Amazing Tree (2009), wich na dem translate am go chaw languages, e.g. Swedish by Britt Isaksson under de title Förtrollad frukt. Na dem sanso award dis book de Silver Star, insyd 2011.[2] All three books be fables wey dey praise friendship.
