De College of Medicine of de Lagos State University popularly dem know am as LASUCOM be one of de top College of Medicine insyd Nigeria.[1][2]

De College dey locate within de structure of de Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, insyd Ikeja de Lagos State Capital.

Na dem establish am insyd 1999 under de administration of Col.Mohammed Buba Marwa wey donate de building dem know as Ayinke House to de School.[3]

De College start plus training medical student wey lead to de award of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB;BS) Degree wey e expand go oda programmes such as Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Nursing Science (BN.Sc), Bachelor of Science, Physiology (B.Sc. Physiology), Bachelor of Science, Pharmacology (B.Sc. Pharmacology) den postgraduate programmes insyd Physiology, Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry den Public Health.

E currently get six faculties, Clinical sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, Pharmacy den Allied Health Sciences.

De Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) be distinguish by ein unique academic programmes such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiology, therapeutics den toxicology den postgraduate programmes. Ebe de state university per for Nigeria insyd plus accredited dental programme.

Dem found de college insyd February 1999 wen na dem commission am by de Lagos State Government. Dem trace de history of de college back to March 1987, wen de foundation Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Afolabi Olumide, set up advisory board for attempt make e establish de Lagos State University College of Medicine, base for de recommendation of de Tertiary Education Review Committee. Although de advisory board submit ein report insyd 1987, de problems face by de University for de time delay de establishment of de College of Medicine.

De MBBS programme commence insyd 1999 plus 52 students. E produce 15 sets of medical graduates wey dey comprise 846 students. De 50-student quota for intake for inception increase go 100 insyd 2013. As of 2023, de LASUCOM graduate den induct go dema respective professional fields, 16 sets of Medical Doctors, 6 sets of Dental Surgeons den 3 sets of Nursing Science students.

De College get four faculties:

  • Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences
  • Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences
  • Faculty of Clinical Sciences
  • Faculty of Dentistry

Dis be in line plus de guidelines of de Medical den Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

Insyd two decades, de college witness rapid administrative den infrastructural transformation in terms of building structures, equipment, facilities as well as significant increase for personnel insyd.

Dem make plans make e construct two fresh students hostel complexes make e add to de existing three hostel structures wey get total housing capacity of 600 students. De fresh buildings go include total of 80 rooms make e accommodate minimum of 320 students, among odas.

De Senate den Governing Council of de University approve two additional faculties to de existing four insyd de College: de faculties of Pharmacy den Health den Allied Sciences.
