Mae-Ling Lokko
Mae-Ling Lokko (born 17 October 1987) be Ghanaian-Filipino designer, academic den artist. She be best known for her research, art den work on fungi, plants, agricultural waste den renewable biobased building materials in relation to ecological health den social justice.[1] For her artistic den design practice, she focus on investigating den prototyping participatory models of production[2]. Lokko be an assistant professor for Yale University's School of Architecture[3].
Early life den education

Lokko study architecture den African in de New World politics for Tufts University, wey she spend a year studying for de Bartlett School of Architecture. She plete her master's den Ph.D. in architectural sciences for de Center for de Architecture, Science and Ecology] (CASE), as ebi an academic-industrial alliance between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute den Skidmore, Owings den Merrill for New York City.
Job
[edit | edit source]Lokko be best known for her academic research, artistic practice den architectural teaching around agricultural waste, fungi den plants dat advocate for de design den scaling of biobased global material value chains around generative justice goals.Her research focuses on de broad development den matching of biobased resources towards high-value material applications. She be de founder of AMBIS Technologies (2015-2018) den Willow Technologies (2017-present), both focused on de upcycling agricultural waste into affordable, low-carbon building materials den for water quality treatment applications. In 2023, Lokko was de co-author of a major United Nations Environment Programme, Global ABC and Yale Center for Ecosystems in Architecture global report “Building Materials den Climate: Constructing a New Future.”
Teaching
[edit | edit source]Lokko serve as an assistant professor for de Yale School of Architecture. Previously she served as assistant professor den director of de Building Sciences program for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to Yale, Lokko mow for Cooper Union for New York City.
