Benue State University be state-owned university for Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. For 2006, student enrollment be ova 19,000 wey dem dey serve for 7 faculties plus 23 departments.[1] De varsity dey offer undergraduate den postgraduate programs plus catalogue of ova 58 graduate programs across 9 colleges/faculties. Dem accredit am by de National Universities Commission. De current Vice-chancellor of Benue State University na Professor Prof. Tor Iorapuu, wey take ova from Professor Msugh Moses Kembe on 3 November 2020.[2]
History
[edit | edit source]Dem start de varsity for 1992 wey na edey serve 306 students plus 149 faculty.[1] De state government establish de varsity make e add to de specialized academic offerings of de University of Agriculture, Makurdi. For 1991, de state government form 13-member steering committee make dem plan for den obtain approval for de varsity. De varsity start dey offer classes for de 1992/1993 school year for four colleges: Arts, Education, Sciences, den Social Science.[3]

[edit | edit source]Athletic activities dey handle by de Sports Unit. De varsity dey participate for de Nigerian University Games Association wey e win silver den bronze medals for NUGA's Sports Fiesta.[6]
