De main campus of de varsity dey locate insyd Njoro, small community approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi), southwest of de town of Nakuru.[3] Dis dey locate approximately 182 kilometres (113 mi), by road, northwest of Nairobi, de capital den largest city insyd Kenya.[4]

Dem found de school insyd 1939, wey na originally dem name am Egerton Farm School.[5] Na dem establish am by large land grant of 740 acres (3 km²) by Maurice Egerton, 4th Baron Egerton of Tatton. Na de school ein original purpose be make e prepare white European youth for careers for agriculture insyd.[6] By 1955, na dem change de name go Egerton Agricultural College. Dem dey offer one-year certificate course den two-year diploma course insyd agriculture. Insyd 1958, Lord Egerton donate another 1,100 acres (4.5 km) of land. Soon afterwards, de college gbele ein doors to people of all races from Kenya den oda African countries.[6]

Insyd 1979, plus support from de Government of Kenya den USAID, de college expand yet again, wey e cam turn part of de University of Nairobi system. Insyd 1987, dem recognise de college as chartered public varsity.[7]
