Simon Osei-Mensah (born 27 May 1961) bi a Ghanaian politician, na he bi member of de 6th Parliament den 4th Republic of Ghana, den a member of de New Patriotic Party insyd Ghana.[1] Rydee he bi de Ashanti Regional minister of Ghana. De President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo appoint am insyd January 2017 den dem approve am by de members of parliament insyd February 2017.[2]

He obtain ein Master of Science degree insyd economics from de University of National and World Economy insyd Sofia, Bulgaria, insyd 1991. He san gey a Certificate insyd Banking from de Institute of Business insyd Odense, Denmark, wey he acquire am insyd 1998.[4]

Political career
[edit | edit source]Osei-Mensah bi a member of de New Patriotic Party.[7][8][9] He come make member of parliament from January 2005 wey he emerge winner insyd de General Election insyd December 2004. He run for ein second den third term wey he san win. Na he bi MP for Bosomtwe constituency.[10] Dem vote give am as de member of parliament for ein constituency for de fourth, fifth den sixth parliaments for de fourth Republic of Ghana. Insyd February 2020, after ein party come back into office, President Nana Akuffo-Addo appoint am as de Ashanti regional minister.[11]

He san win on de ticket for de New Patriotic Party.[12] Ein constituency bi part of de 36 parliamentary seats out of de 39 seats wey win by de New Patriotic Party insyd dat election for de Ashanti Region.[13] De New Patriotic Party win a majority total of 128 parliamentary seats out of 230 seats. Dem vote give am wid 28,052 votes out of 34,225 total valid votes cast equivalent to 82% of total valid votes cast. Dem vote give over Suleiman Mohammed wey dey rep de People's National Convention, Edward Isaac Boateng wey dey rep de National Democratic Congress den Paul Adomako Ansah wey dey rep de Convention People's Party. Dese obtained 1.0%, 14.3% den 2.8% respectively for de total valid votes cast.[14]
Insyd 2008, he win de general elections on de ticket of de New Patriotic Party for de same constituency.[15] Ein constituency bi part of de 34 parliamentary seats out of 39 seats wey de New Patriotic Party win insyd dat election for de Ashanti Region.[16] De New Patriotic Party win a minority total of 109 parliamentary seats out of 230 seats.[17] Dem vote give am wid 25,988 votes out of 37,194 total valid votes cast, equivalent to 69.87%, den elect am over Suleiman Mohammed wey dey rep de People's National Convention, Dr. Joseph Oteng Adjei wey dey rep de National Democratic Congress den Gilbert Adler Alhassan wey dey rep de Convention People's Party. Dese obtained 1.46%, 27.67% den 0.99% respectively for de total votes cast.[18]
Insyd 2012, he win de general elections one more tym on de ticket of de New Patriotic Party for de same constituency. Dem elect am wid 34,790 votes out of 52,269 total valid votes cast. Dis bi equivalent to 66.56% of total valid votes cast. Dem elect am over Joe Oteng-Adjei wey dey rep de National Democratic Congress, Kwame Ofosu Chei wey dey rep de Progressive People's Party den Yaw Wiredu wey dey rep de People's National Convention. Dese obtained 32.97%, 0.36% den 0.11% respectively of de total votes cast.[19]
