Talle Bamazi be a Togolese-born Kabye painter, curator, den gallery owner. He dey base insyd Columbus, Ohio.
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]Na dem born am insyd Northern Togo (West Africa), into de Kabye ethnic group. Bamazi begin ein artistic career as an apprentice to ein uncle, a traditional Togolese artist. Although he study architecture insyd Lomé, he rapidly return to painting, wey he develop ein own distinctive style wey dey bridge traditional African den contemporary modern art.[1]
After he move go de United States, he study for de Art Students League of New York, wey he earn a MFA degree for de New York Academy of Art.[2] He currently be de lead artist-in-residence for de King Arts Complex, wer na ein monumental series of life-sized portraits of Columbus-area black artists, dem formerly feature for de Columbus Museum of Art, now dey hang insyd de historic Pythian theater.[3]
