University of Mpumalanga de base insyd Mbombela den insyd Siyabuswa, South Africa. Na dem establish am insyd 2014, initially dey accommodate modest intake of one hundred den forty students.[1]

Edey incorporate de infrastructure of three institutions wey dey exist – de Lowveld College of Agriculture, de hospitality school for KaNyamazane den de Siyabuswa Education Campus. E currently dey offer de Bachelor of Education den Bachelor of Agriculture degrees, as well as Diploma insyd Hospitality Management. De interim Council Head be Dr. Ramaranka A Mogotlane, FRCPS(Glas), FRCS(Edin), previously Head of de Department of Anatomy for both de University of Natal den MEDUNSA.

De Mpumalanga task team wey submit favourable report insyd September 2011, wey dey recommend de establishment of fresh university insyd Mpumalanga na Prof T Z Mthembu lead am.

Insyd July 2013, de State Presido, Mr Jacob Zuma, announce de name of de fresh university as de University of Mpumalanga as well as de names of de members of de Interim Council make dem oversee ein formal establishment. De University of Mpumalanga, comprehensive university, na dem formally den legally promulgate thru de publication of Government Notice (No. 36772) for 22 August 2013 wey dem launch am for 31 October 2013. De Interim Council appoint de Strategic Management Team wey manage de day-to-day operations of de university.

De Higher Education Act (Act No. 101 of 1997)[2] dem establish wey dem dey take govern de university by Council.
