Accra College of Education be teacher training education college wey dey Accra (Ayawaso West Wuogon), Greater Accra, Ghana.[1] De college dey insyd the Eastern-Greater Accra zone. Ebe one of de 46 Public Colleges of Education wey dey Ghana insyd de city dem san dey call de college the City College.[2] De college come join de Department for International Development (DFID) fund by T-TEL program.[3][4]

De college get ein affiliation to the University of Ghana Legon for May 2019.[5]

De college dey do programmes lyk Primary, Junior High School den Early Childhood Education Studies.[6] wey de bew B.Ed Progammes wey all the 46 colleges dey do.De JHS education some of dema courses be specialism insyd Science, Social Studies, ICT, Mathematics, Visual Arts den odas. Dema Upper Primary courses some be English Language, Social Science, Child Psychology, Communication Skills den odas.

De college dey Legon-Madina in the Greater Accra Region.[2] De school dey East Legon area, wey de school dey UPSA dema road top as you dey go de ARS roundabout.

De college get well set up buildings, auditorium, lecture halls, cafeteria, canteen, library, football park, volley den basketball court.

De college get 4 halls. Dema names be Gberbie Hall, Henaku Hall, Nii Kwrakwranya II Hall den Ama Hesse Hall.

Na dem dey bell de college ATTRACO den tymz but dem change am go Accra College of Education (AcCE).

Dem form am for November 8, 1909.[7] De college start plus 24 students wey de first principal be Mr. W. H. Baker. Accra College of Education open for 15th November 1962 for one-storey building insyd for Accra New Town wey every bro no sey ebe Government Teacher Training College. As dem found de college government do am day training college wey 19 students den eight members be staff. Some important persons be Mrs. Kodjo Haizel den F.N. Gberbie, both of dem cam turn principals of de college. For 10th of January 1985,[8] dem change de location of de college wey now ecome dey East Legon. Na de college be de only non-residential teacher training college til ecome turn boarding institution for October 2001 wey dat be de time ecome gain ein full residential status. By 2022, clinic dey plus resident nurse for de college insyd.[9] Dema current principal be Professor Atinono Awinikini.

Over de years, de College dey run different programmes wey dey include:

  • Certificate ‘A’ 4-year Post Middle;
  • Certficate ‘A’ 2-year Post Secondary;
  • 2-Year Modular Post Middle for pupil teachers;
  • Certificate ‘A’ 3-Year Post Secondary,
  • 3-Year Diploma for Basic Education wey now e dey run 4-Year Bachelor give Primary Education,
  • 4-Year Bachelor give Early Grade,
  • 4-year Bachelor give Junior High Education programmes plus specializations largely for Social Sciences insyd.

De College be affiliated to University of Cape Coast til 2018 wey ein den University of Ghana, Legon come get fresh affiliation. De College get six academic departments: Languages, Social Sciences, Education Studies, Vocational Skills, Mathematics / ICT, den Science.

De College get nine active non-academic departments/Units: Central Administration, Internal Audit, Library, Catering, Works den Estates, Finance den Accounts, Laboratory, Security, Sanitation den General Labour, Procurement den Stores, Transport den ICT.

De College get staff strength of 121 wey 54 be academic staff den 67 be non-academic staff.

For every year insyd, de College dey produce graduates wey go serve for all levels for de country ein educational institutions, civil den public service for top management positions. Odas too dey do well for dema private businesses.

Various Principals don contribute greatly to de upliftment of de College since ein inception to date. De current Principal be Professor Dr. Samuel Awinkene Atintono, who wey de school ein board committee duly appoint am as de 7th Principal for Accra College of Education on de 1st of November 2018 through competitive interview spearhead by de National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) wey now ebe Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), den subsequently confirm by de Governing Council of Accra College of Education.

Although de college remain de only day teacher training college for de country insyd til 2001, e perform very well both academically den professionally. De school produce bunch students wey dem be very eminent for several spheres of national life. Bunch past students den lecturers win best Teacher Awards. For 2007 insyd de college win de Inter Colleges Spelling ‘B’ Competition for de zonal level.[8]
