After he die, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, wey direct five of ein films, talk say 'Bob J' leave lasting mark for Ghana film industry. She sanso talk say: "Bob be person wey dey pay attention to details, professional, creative, strong person wey you fi rely for ein top, den above all, big brother. For de maiden Ghana Movie Awards, dem award Johnson posthumously as de Best Cinematography Award for ein 2009 film A Sting in a Tale.[1] Ein film Check Mate sana receive posthumous nomination for Best Cinematography for de Ghana Movie Awards.[2] Plus, ein film The Good Old Days: The Love of AA get nomination for Best Cinematography for Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) after he die.[2]

For 2012, de Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA) dem start de Robert Johnson Silhouette Award for Best Cinematography for National Film and Television Institute Students Film Festival. Dem give out de award twice, for 2012 den 2014.
