Eric Adjetey Anang (Template:Pronunciation) be a Ghanaian sculptor den fantasy coffin carpenter. Dem born am insyd Teshie, Ghana den runs de Kane Kwei Carpentry Workshop. He currently maintains dual residency den splits ein time between Ghana den Madison, Wisconsin, where he be pursuing unique projects.[1][2]

Insyd 2001, he introduce Ghana design coffins at Gidan Makama Museum Kano, Nigeria, under de auspices of Alliance française insyd Kano. He complete ein secondary school at de Accra Academy. [citation needed]

Adjetey Anang explained in an interview dat de fantasy coffin idea begin wen ein grandfather be building a palanquin for a chief, but de chief die before he could ride insyd it den de family decide he should instead be buried insyd it.[3]

Insyd 2005 he take over de management of de studio dat be establish by Seth Kane Kwei,[4][5] dey get motivate by de ambition to "rise de name of ein grand-father den see de world". Within a short time, Adjetey Anang becam one of Ghana's leading contemporary artists den an internationally we dem bell coffin maker.[6]

Insyd January 2010, Adjetey Anang takek part insyd de photographic project Please, do not move ! plus de French photographer Guy Hersant. At de end of de same year, he get invite to de Black World Festival insyd Dakar as representative of designers from Ghana.[7]

Insyd 2009, Adjetey Anang organize for Oregon College of Art & Craft's Senior Lecturer Michael de Forest to come to Ghana for a two-month artist residency.[8][9]

At de 2019 Furniture Society Conference wey dey hold at de Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Adjetey Anang den Michael de Forest were conference speakers den give a presentation wey title "Research as Adventure: Scratching the Itch of Curiosity Until It Smacks You in the Face". Adjetey Anang san give coffin-making demonstrations showing de process of using hand tools to make hollow, curved, wooden sculptures.[10][11]

Adjetey Anang dey participate insyd dozen of artist residencies den workshops worldwide.[2] Insyd 2014, he be a Resident Fellow through de Windgate ITE International Residency at de Center for Art in Wood in Philadelphia, PA.[12] He be de 2019-2020 Thurber Park Artist-in-Resident, put together through de Madison Arts Commission den de Bubbler at Madison Public Library insyd Madison, Wisconsin.[1]

He hold a solo exhibition at de University of Arkansas Little Rock Windgate Center for Art + Design insyd 2020 wey dey title Celebrating Death: Fantasy Coffins of Ghana by Eric Adjetey Anang. Dis exhibition showcased Adjetey Anang's fantasy coffins ranging from a giant hot pepper anaa a wing-tipped shoe.[13][3]
