Sunyani Municipal District be one of de twelve districts insyd Bono Region, Ghana. Originally dem create as an ordinary district assembly for 10 March 1989 wen na dem know am as Sunyani District, til na dem split off de northwest part of de district make dem create Sunyani West District for 1 November 2007 (effectively 29 February 2008); thus na dem retain de part wey remain as Sunyani District, wich na dem later elevate am to municipal district assembly status wey na dem rename am as Sunyani Municipal District for dat same year. De municipality dey locate insyd de western part of Bono Region[1] wey e get Sunyani as ein capital town.
