Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District (French: District Municipal de Tarkwa-Nsuaem), as at 2024, be one of de fifteen districts insyd Western Region, Ghana.[1] Originally, na ebe formerly part of de then-larger Wassa West District insyd 1988, wich na dem create from de former Wassa-Fiase-Mpohor District Council, til dem split off de northern part of de district make dem create Prestea-Huni Valley District for 29 February 2008; thus de part wey remain dem rename am as Tarkwa-Nsuaem District, wich na dem later elevate am to municipal district assembly status for dat same year make e cam turn Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District. E get a population of about 218,664 people.[2] De municipality dey locate insyd de eastern part of Western Region wey e get Tarkwa as ein capital town.
Geography
[edit | edit source]Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District dey locate between Latitude 400’N den 500 40’N den Longitudes 10 45’ W den 20 10’W. Ebe bounded to de north by de Wassa Amenfi East District, to de south by de Ahanta West District, to de West by de Nzema East Municipal den to de East by Mpohor Wassa East. De municipality get a total land area of 2354 km2.[3]
Resource
[edit | edit source]De district be one of de richest insyd Ghana in terms of natural resources. Like, Obuasi insyd de Ashanti Region of Ghana, gold be ein major natural resource. Der sanso be a manganese mine for Nsuta a suburb of Tarkwa. De Tarkwa glass factory, wich na be set up by Ghana ein first presido, Kwame Nkrumah though now ebe defunct sanso dey insyd de district. De Tarkwa Gold Mine dey situate sam four kilometers west of de town of Tarkwa.[4] De district sanso get de region ein public university per - de George Grant University of Mines and Technology.[5]
