Youssouf Coulibaly (born 2 January 1993) be a Malian puppet designer, puppeteer den storyteller wey komot Mali.

Early life

Later he study art for de Institut National des Arts de Bamako, den puppet theatre at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette insyd Charleville-Mézières, France.

Career

Insyd 1980 he form ein own puppet company, de Sogolon Puppet Troupe,[1] wey since he cam turn de leading custodian of de Bambara puppetry tradition, de oldest den richest of Africa ein surviving puppetry traditions. Coulibaly be de custodian of a vast collection of puppets, chaw of wich cam down to am thru ein family. Dey speak of ein passion, Coulibaly say:[1]

I depend on puppets, my family lives only for this. This is my bank, this is my territory, this is my book, this is all my domain and every day that God gives us.

Coulibaly create a new den dynamic puppet theatre wey dey draw from de ancient traditions of puppetry insyd West Africa. Ein performances dey incorporate traditional folk tales den legends den episodes from Mali ein great epics, as well as colonial history den commentary for contemporary life insyd Mali. De techniques insyd ein performances dey include hand puppets, rod puppets, marionettes, masks den live music.
