Catherine Katuni Tedam be Ghanaian teacher den politician. She serve as member of parliament give Chiana-Paga constituency from 1970 go 1972. She be one of only two women for Second Republican parliament.[1]

Ein early life den education[edit | edit source]

Dem born Tedam for 15 March 1944 insyd for Paga. She get ein early education for Local Council Primary School for Paga from 1951 dey go 1956 den de Girls' Middle Boarding School for Bolgatanga from 1957 dey go 1960.[2] She enter de Women's Teacher Training College for Tamale wey she train as teacher from 1961 go 1965.[2]

As she dey do ein teacher training for de Women's Teacher Training College for 1965 insyd, she gain employment for de Local Authority Primary School Paga. She teach for der till 1966 wen she join de teaching staff of de Akantome Middle School wey dey Bolgatanga. She teach for der for one year as well wey she move go Abiba Middle School wey san dey Bolgatanga wey she teach for der for one year once again. For 1969 insyd she teach for Adabase Primary School wey san dey Bolgatanga till she enter parliament for 1970 insyd. While she dey ein teaching profession insyd, na Catherine be National Executive member of de Elementary Teachers' Association from 1966 go 1969.[2]

Catherine cam turn member of de Financial Board of Chiana-Paga Local Council for 1968 insyd. For de second republic tym insyd, dem disqualify certain candidates say make dem contest for de 1969 elections insyd secof dema connection plus de government of de First Republic. One of de candidates be Clement Kubindiwo Tedam (C. K. Tedam) wey serve as de member of parliament give de Paga constituency for de First Republic tym insyd. Na C. K. Tedam for contest for de Chiana-Paga seat but ein disqualification result make ein seat cam turn vacant.[3] Dem hold by-election for March 1970 insyd wey Catherine wey be C. K. Tedam ein niece contest for de seat for Progress Party dema ticket top wey she win.[4][5] As na she dey parliament she serve for various committees insyd, sam dey include; de House Committee, de Committee on Education, de Health Committee, den de Rural den Social Development Committee.[2]

Catherine be Catholic.[1] She dey love reading wey she dey love dey listen music for ein leisure time. She san love dey play netball den hockey.[2]
