De history be say dem found am insyd 1960, GOIL wey start nu as private enterprise dema am AGIP Ghana Company Limited, plus major shareholders be AGIP SPA of Italy den SNAM S.P.A. Den dem take over from de marketing outfit of AGIP PETROLI, subsidiary wey na dem establish insyd Ghana insyd 1960.[3] Wey e start nu ankasa as company wey dey produce fossil fuel products such as fuel, propane den butane, asphalt, den lubricants. Insyd 1968 SNAM S.P.A. dema people nu transfer ein shares to Hydrocarbons International Holdings.[5] Insyd 1974, de Government of Ghana acquire 100 percent shares p3p3p3 wey e turn dema name from AGIP Ghana Company Limited to Ghana Oil Company Limited.[3][6]

Insyd 2019 nu, dem san change de Company name to GOIL Company Limited den later to GOIL PLC, make e represent ein growth den expansion works insyd de petroleum sector den oda industries.[3]
