Karaga District be one of de sixteen districts wey dey de Northern Region insyd, Ghana. Previously, na e dey part of de den Gushegu-Karaga District insyd 1988, nah dem create am from de former East Dagomba District Council, e dey there til de western part of de district was later split off to create Karaga District on 27 August 2004; den de remaining original part be retain to becam Gushegu District, den ein elevated to municipal district assembly status on de same year to becam Gushegu Municipal District. De district assembly dey insyd de northeast part of de Northern Region den Karaga be ein capital town.

Karaga District's western neighbours be Savelugu Municipal District den Nanton District. To de north be West Mamprusi Municipal District den East Mamprusi Municipal District. To de south den east be de Gushegu Municipal District from which Karaga District was carved.[1][2]
