Oscar Korbla Mawuli Awuku (born 18 May 1999), dem better know am as Yonga Arts, de name of ein artistic brand, be Ghanaian body artist, painter, den sculptor.
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]Na dem born Awuku insyd Accra to Maxwell Awuku den Bridgette Dzidzineyo as de first of three boys.[1] He get ein basic school education at Senajoy Preparatory School insyd Accra wey he later go Mawuli School, wer na he study visual arts.

[edit | edit source]Na Awuku said ein work "explores pre-colonial culture but also addresses decolonized practices in contemporary culture"; edey look at de essence of identity of de black body, while e dey advocate give women wey dey seek make e biz empowering questions for society insyd.[7] He dey refer to de motif of de traditional mask, he talk say, "My constant use of the ritual mask is based on the belief that it conceptually turns its wearer into the spirit represented by the mask itself."[5]
