De University of Media, Arts den Communication- Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ), formerly de Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), be public university for Ghana.[1] De University be merger of de erstwhile Ghana Institute of Journalism, de National Film den Television Institute, established den de Ghana Institute of Languages. National Accreditation Board wey accredit dem.[2][3]

De Ghana Institute of Journalism start for 16 October 1959 by Kwame Nkrumah, de first president of Ghana. Na dem first dey bell am School of Journalism, wey na ebe department for Accra Technical Institute (now Accra Technical University). Na de first principal den journalism tutor be Richard McMillan.[1] Dem name de university library after am.[4]

De school turn Ghana Institute of Journalism for 1974.[1][5] De school get ein presidential charter wey dem establish am as university for 2009.[6]

De management of de institution talk students wey pay demma fees late say make dem defer demma courses for de academic year. De students protest den accuse de management say dem be 'unfair' den 'insensitive' as dem no know de consequences.[15] Sam students no fi enter de two campuses of de institution.[16] De management later allow de students make dem register for demma end-of-semester exams.[17]

For November 2020 insyd, de academic board give students wey no fi graduate since 2013, de opportunity say make dem register den complete demma programs. Na dem for do am within three years.[18]
