De people of Yendi be mainly peasant farmers who dey grow grains especially corn, guinea corn den millet. Dem also grow tubers be like yam. Yendi be commercial hub as e dey catch de middle of most towns/villages in de northern corridor. Most people wey dey go Tamale den beyond from de Eastern corridor must dey go insyd Yendi so making it be important transport hub.

Yendi be important cultural centre as e be de home to de Dagbon king's seat. The Yaa Naa dey insyd Yendi wey ein get ein palace.
