De Pra River be a river insyd Ghana, de easternmost den de largest of de three principal rivers wey dey drain de area south of de Volta divide. Dey rise insyd de Kwahu Plateau near Mpraeso den dey flow southward for 240 km (149.129 mi) thru rich cocoa den farming areas den valuable forests insyd de Akan lowlands, de Pra dey enter de Gulf of Guinea east of Takoradi.[1] Insyd de 19th century, de Pra serve as de border between de Ashanti Confederacy den de Gold Coast.
De Pra get chaw cataracts, notably de Bosomasi Rapids for Anyinabrim, den for chaw of ein length e no be navigable even by canoe. However, insyd de early part of de twentieth century na dem extensively use Pra make dem float timber to de coast for export. Dem now dey carry dis trade by road den rail transportation. De main tributaries be de Ofin, Anum den Birim rivers. De northern part of de Pra be still worked give artisan gold plus metallic mercury, wich na e cause sam contamination.[2] De Birim river valley be a major source of diamonds.
Akim Oda be de commercial centre of de northern Pra basin.
