2020 Ghanaian general election

Ghana hold general elections on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of de New Patriotic Party (NPP) dem re-elect insyd de first round after securing a majority for votes. At de Supreme Court, a petition challenging de result dem file on 30 December, den unanimously dismissed on 4 March 2021 for lack of merit.

De NPP lost ein majority insyd de parliament, winning de same number of seats as demma opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament plus a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) insyd de position of kingmaker.

Electoral system[edit | edit source]

Dem use two-round President of Ghana is elect using de two-round system, whilst de 275 members of Parliament are elect insyd single-member constituencies using first-past-de-post voting.

Eligible voters for bi Ghanaian citizens who are at least 18 years old, although dem declare insane are disenfranchised. Parliamentary candidates must be Ghanaian citizens at least 21 years old, and either be resident in their constituency or have lived there for at least five of the ten years prior to the election.
