De National Democratic Congress (NDC) be social democratic political party insyd Ghana, wey dem found am by Jerry Rawlings, na he be Head of State for Ghana from 1981 to 1993 den de President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001.[1][2] Following de formation of de Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), wey dem rule Ghana following de military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, na pressure dey come from de international community say dem for restore democracy. On 9 December 2012, de Electoral Commission of Ghana declare de NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama to be president-elect after a hotly contested race as dem win 50.7% of de votes cast.[5]

Vice-president John Atta Mills lose insyd 2000 to New Patriotic Party's John Kufour after two rounds of voting.

On 21 December 2006, Mills be overwhelmingly as dem elect am by de NDC as ein candidate for de 2008 presidential election plus a majority of 81.4%, or 1,362 votes. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah be second plus 8.7% (146 votes), Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu be third plus 8.2% (137 votes), den Eddie Annan be fourth plus 1.7% (28 votes).[12] Insyd April 2008, dem choose John Mahama as de party ein vice-presidential candidate.[13] For 3 January 2009, dem certify Mills say he be de victor for de 28 December 2008 run-off election den become de next president of Ghana.[14]

On 25 June 2020 de NDC led by ein General Secretary Asiedu Nketiah,[21] lose a case insyd de Supreme Court of Ghana wey de party dey search say ego achieve de inclusion of old Voter ID cards insyd de Electoral Commission ein compilation of a New Voter's Register, among other reliefs.[22]
