Hanny-Sherry Naa Sakley Ayittey (8 February 1948 – 22 July 2023) na she be a Ghanaian biochemist, politician den women's activist.[1] Na she be a Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development. Na she be de Minister for Health from February 2013 to June 2014. Na she be de Minister for Environment, Science and Technology from 2009 to 2012.

[edit | edit source]Na dem born Ayittey for 8 February 1948.[2] After she graduate from Labone Secondary School insyd Accra as a member of de 1965–1967 year group, she attend de Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, then de University of Science and Technology (UST), wey she earn a Bachelor of Science insyd Biochemistry den Master of Science insyd industrial microbiology.[3][4][1] Na she sanso be a fellow of American universities of management, namely, Johns Hopkins University insyd Baltimore den Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.[1][5] Na Ayittey be involved insyd non-governmental organisation activities for Ghana insyd. Insyd February 2013, she attend a leadership programme for Harvard University.[1]
Career
[edit | edit source]Ayittey serve as de managing director of Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC) Distilleries. She serve for chaw management boards top insyd Ghana wey dey include de Ghana Water and Sewerage Corporation now Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ghana Forestry Commission, National Population Council den Ghana Export Promotion Council.[1]
Na Ayittey be Ghana ein lead of delegation to Conference of Parties (COP) of de United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification den United Nations Convention on Biodiversity among odas.[1][6]
Na Ayitey be an attendant of de International Conference for Women insyd Beijing, China den de Africa Global Initiative Conference, Tokyo, Japan.[6] Na she sanso be a fellow of de Institute of Directors, United Kingdom, den a member of de Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Ghana.[1][6]

After de 2008 presidential election, Presido John Atta Mills appoint Ayittey as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, wey he make am a member of ein 19-minister cabinet insyd January 2009.[12][13][14]
Ayittey serve as de chairperson of de United Nations Commission on Science and Technology (Geneva) den de African Regional Centre on Technology (Dakar).[15] Na she sanso be a member of ECOWAS Board, Economic Community of West African States Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE)[16] wey na she sanso be a Council Member of de Global Environment Facility (GEF), Washington.[15]
